GLENORCHY could be without captain courageous Brayden Webb for up to six weeks and the club will have to wait until this afternoon to find out results of scans on the magnificent Magpie’s injured knee.

As coach Paul Kennedy prepared his team for a blockbuster Tasmanian State League clash with undefeated Lauderdale at KGV tomorrow, “PK” revealed Webb’s injury was worse than first thought after he damaged his knee in last week’s loss to North Launceston. Webb went down in the second quarter and was immediately out of the match.

“His knee was too swollen to scan earlier in the week so he’s having it this afternoon and hopefully tomorrow afternoon we’ll know the news,” Kennedy said.

“The best case scenario for him is that it is in the four to six week range. Obviously we’re hoping it’s not longer.”

Defender Josh Arnold was banged up in his clash with Northern Bomber Dakota Bannister. Even though he has recovered faster than expected, he may not play this week.

“Josh was laying on his side and the full weight of Dakota Bannister came down on him, and he’s a big dude. Josh said it felt like his chest had been crushed,” Kennedy said.

“The medicos thought initially there was a fracture but there’s not — just a lot of trauma to some joints and the chest area. He’s bounced back quickly but we will give him the opportunity to recover fully and come back.”

Forward Jaye Bowden (ankle) had a fitness test last night and may be right to play.

There was some good news for Magpie fans, with midfielder Trad Duggan promoted for his first game in almost three years after winning his battle with osteitis pubis.

“He’s been playing exceptional football at Development League level so we can’t wait to see him out there,” Kennedy said.

In other TSL news, North Hobart has regained big forward Colin Garland for its trip to UTas Stadium to play reigning premier North Launceston.

Before the Tigers and Clarence meet in a night match at the Twin Ovals tomorrow night, their respective coaches Trent Baumeler and Jeromey Webberley have united to promote Road Safety Week to remind people of the possible consequences of risky driving and how to keep all road users safe. Players and officials will wear yellow armbands in support of the initiative.

The Roos have lost teenager Ethan Jackson, who will make his debut for the Devils in the NAB League, and have swapped ruckman Ryan Bailey to an interstate work trip for Wade Wall, back from an interstate assignment.
