Titans NRLW coach Karyn Murphy one of six females inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame
The recognition for the women’s rugby league pioneer Karyn Murphy shouldn’t stop at her groundbreaking Hall of Fame induction, believes the Titans CEO.

Master Gold Coast Titans coach Karyn Murphy has been inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame, but the recognition for the women’s rugby league pioneer shouldn’t stop there.
That is the belief of Gold Coast Titans CEO Steve Mitchell, who hopes that immortal status waits Murphy.
“We currently have 13 Immortals in the NRL, who have all made extraordinary contributions to the game, but they are all men,” Mitchell said.
“It’s wonderful to see these six trailblazing women added to the hall of fame, but I still believe the next step is to name a female immortal and Karyn should be in the mix for that honour.
“There is arguably no person who has been more influential to the female game of rugby league than Karyn.”
As part of the inaugural crop of female inductees, Murphy has been added the Hall of Fame alongside Gold Coast’s under-17 female academy coach Veronica White, inaugural Titans assistant and Queensland coach Tahnee Norris, as well as Katrina Fanning, Tarsha Gale and Natalie Dwyer.
Murphy is considered by many as one of the greatest to play the female game and played 28 tests for the Jillaroos, including 18 as captain.
She has been to four World Cups and played 20 games for Queensland, and now works as the Titans director of female rugby league and is the club’s NRLW coach. She in the only female NRLW coach and was named Dally M coach of the year in 2023 after taking the Gold Coast to their inaugural grand final.
“Karyn is one of the most decorated players to have played our game,” Mitchell said.
“She is an icon and having inspired the next generation of players during her time with the boots on, she is now developing them in her time as a coach.
“Her service to the game goes beyond her on-field achievements, also acting as the longest-serving head of the NRL’s Integrity Unit.”
