Tigers star didn’t waste opportunity of two TSL games in five days to edge within striking distance of Lynch Medal lead

The quick round 10 turnaround did nothing to slow down Tigers midfielder Kieran Lovell, who produced an astonishing effort to help the side defeat Glenorchy for the first time in 16 attempts.

TWO games in five days in round 10 didn’t stop the Tigers from creating a slice of club history — and saw a ball magnet make his charge for the Alastair Lynch Medal.

The Tigers made their foray into midweek State League football with a come-from-behind win against North Hobart, recovering from a four goal halftime deficit to snatch a five point victory.

Backing up on the quick turnaround against Glenorchy on Sunday, the Tigers registered their first ever win against the Pies in 16 attempts.

And it was Kieran Lovell who stole the show with an astonishing 40 disposals, 13 clearances and a goal to be the undisputed best on ground.

Coupled with the vote he received against the Demons for his 21 possession, seven clearance and five inside 50 effort, Lovell has rocketed into equal second in the Lynch Medal count with two rounds remaining.

He joins early season leader Ethan Jackson (Clarence) on nine votes, one behind leader Jobi Harper who didn’t feature in round 10 as Launceston was handed a hiding from Lauderdale at SkyBus Oval.

While TSL Team of the Year vice-captain Josh McGuinness picked up the three votes for another starring role with a match high 23 touches, Sam Siggins was awarded two — moving him into outright third — after kicking three goals from 12 possessions.

Siggins is two votes behind Harper, who was still the Blues’ best with 20 disposals (15 contested) 11 clearances and two goals.

Despite being comprehensively beaten in hit-outs (32-12) by North Launceston’s Alex Lee and the Bombers picking up the victory, Clarence ruckman Ryan Bailey was judged best afield by the umpires in the clash at Richmond Oval.
