Sadness as global sporting power couple file for divorce after cheating storm

Tennis star Ana Ivanovic has reportedly filed for divorce as cheating rumours swirl following her relationship breakdown.

Ana Ivanovic has reportedly filed for divorce to split from football legend Bastian Schweinsteiger after he allegedly had an affair.

The former Manchester United star and tennis great Ivanovic split earlier this year as rumours of infidelity spread across the globe.

The power couple had been married for nine years before parting ways, having first met in 2014.

They tied the knot in 2016, a year after the German footballer had joined United.

The ceremony took place in Venice, Italy as the footballer and tennis star made their vows.

German outlet Bild have reported that Ivanovic, 38, filed for divorce in November at the Munich District Court.

The former tennis star is also believed to have filed for child support in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, The Sun reports.

She lives in the Spanish city with their three sons, Luka, Leon and Teo.

Representative for Ivanovic, Christian Schertz, revealed in July that the couple had split because of “irreconcilable differences”.

In June, reports in Germany emerged that Schweinsteiger had been spotted kissing an alleged new girlfriend.

It is thought that they knew each other as their children go to the same school.

The German press named the woman as “Silva” who is thought to be Bulgarian.

Bild even claimed that the two had begun an affair back in the summer of 2024.

Magazine Bunte reported that Ivanovic was open to forgiving Schweinsteiger but it did not happen as he stated he wanted to “live freely”.

Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic were last publicly seen together as they attended the Laver Cup in September 2024.

They did then share an Instagram post of themselves at a Christmas market in December.

He left the club to move to the MLS and join the Chicago Fire before hanging up his boots in 2019.

Ivanovic shot to stardom as one of the most recognisable and marketable players on the WTA Tour after her first big breakthrough when winning the Canberra International ahead of the Australian Open in 2005. She was aged 17 at the time.

She finished her singles career with 15 WTA Tour titles and was runner up at the 2008 Australian Open, where she lost to Maria Sharapova.

She held the position as the No. 1 ranked player on the Tour after winning the French Open in 2008. It was her only grand slam triumph.

Ivanovic remains a popular face with tennis fans and has played in the legends doubles draw at recent grand slams,
