One of Tasmanian football’s favourite sons Jack Riewoldt will begin his crusade to champion the state’s new AFL team by launching the Put Your Say into Play community consultation campaign.

The campaign, to be launched in Hobart on Thursday, will be spearheaded by an online survey and will form the building blocks of the Tasmania Football Club and guide its values – or the “fabric” of the organisation – as it prepares to enter the AFL in 2028.

It will also include numerous face-to-face community fabric events over the coming months.

“The time has come to put your say into play, and we would like all Tasmanians to give us their thoughts on the creation of our club,” Riewoldt said.

“This club belongs to all Tasmanians. Every Tasmanian’s view is important to us, whether you live here in Tassie, interstate, or overseas.”

As part of the campaign, Riewoldt will lead free, face-to-face community events around the state, starting on the northwest Coast and West Coast on December 14.

More information and how to attend these events will be available soon.

“In creating the fabric of the Tasmanian Football Club we want to engage with a wide range of audiences across Tasmania – getting out to regional communities to ensure all Tasmanians have the opportunity to contribute their hopes and aspirations for our club,” Riewoldt said.

“Every contribution will be captured and considered in our club fabric.

“Every story about Tasmanian football and Tasmanian community will be heard, and is important.”

Chairman of the Tasmania Football Club, Grant O’Brien, said the first survey, which should take about seven minutes to complete, will close at midday on November 30.

“Whether you are one of the thousands to have signed up to the club’s ‘believer’ database or you just have an interest in sport or your community, we want the views of all Tasmanians to be factored into the build of our club,” Mr O’Brien said.

“We have a magnificent opportunity to create a special club that is the best community elite sporting club in the world and make sure we capture the voices of as many Tasmanians as possible in that process is our highest priority.”
