Tasmania Devils footy jumpers are being shipped all over the world and the club has called for its legion of supporters to send photos of the places they go to and you won’t believe where the first one popped up.
The TFC posted this on X, accompanied by a photo from Alaska, in the Arctic Circle:
“Just in: the Foundation Jumper has been spotted on John and Eileen in the Arctic Circle. Tag us in any sightings; we’ll share our faves on here and the website.”
A wallaby was pictured in a night vision-style picture with a Devils jumper in the background under the caption “Spot the Map”.
The “Map” jumpers were offered for sale to Founding Members over a strictly-limited two-week window in April and more than 10,000 were snapped up.
Of the jumpers sold, 52.56 per cent were bought by people in Tasmania, while 19.63 per cent were bought by people in Victoria.
Queensland was best of the rest with 9.04 per cent, followed by Western Australia (7.21), NSW (6.45) and South Australia (4.16).
As well as Australia, the jumpers are heading to a total of 25 countries, including Czech Republic, Uganda, Norway, Poland, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, USA, Sweden, Austria, UK, Canada, Kenya and Hong Kong.
The club wants to see the Devils jumper “in the wild” and has dubbed it the The Mappus Mappus Project.
The club says:
“Managed to get your hands on one? The Tasmania Football Club needs your help to reintroduce our native merchandise back into the wild.
“Support the club in this endeavour to bring this endangered species back to the top of the food chain by spotting and tagging sightings of Mappus Mappus out in the wild.
“To get involved don’t forget to tag @officaltasmaniafc in your sighting.”
