Tasmanian V8 young gun Lochie Dalton’s motorsport dream will come true later this year when he debuts at the Bathurst 1000 in October for supercars powerhouse Tickford Racing.

Dalton will share a Ford Mustang with NSW teenager Rylan Gray as Tickford promotes their two young stars from the Super2 development series to the main game for the great race.

Dalton has also been named as a wildcard entry for the Perth SuperSprint round in June, interestingly not for his hometown round at Symmons Plains on May 9-11 — one round earlier.

Tickford CEO Simon Brookhouse, who was CEO of the Tasmania JackJumpers, said the team would continue to development their young Turks.

“Giving young drivers the opportunity to gain experience at the highest level is something we are passionate about at Tickford Racing,” Brookhouse said.

“Lochie and Rylan have both shown great potential in Super2, and stepping up as wildcard entries in the main game is the perfect next step in their development.”

The Perth SuperSprint will be Dalton’s second appearance in the main game after debuting at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2024.

Dalton and Gray will also team up for The Bend Enduro, the major shakedown heading into Bathurst.

“I’m keen for another crack at the main game, kicking things off in Perth before teaming up with Rylan for the enduro season,” Dalton said.

“I can’t thank the team enough for giving me and my little mate a shot in the big leagues.

“It’s going to be a huge challenge, but I’m ready to take it on.”

Brookhouse said Dalton’s promotion had been well-deserved.

“We saw what Lochie was capable of when he made his wildcard debut last year, and adding Rylan into the mix for 2025 makes this an even more exciting program,” he said.

“Competing in both Super2 and the enduros will be a massive challenge, but we believe in their talent and can’t wait to see what they can achieve.”
