THE Tasmania Devils girls have had had their second consecutive NAB League game canned due to the coronavirus border lockdown with their round three clash with the Eastern Ranges postponed in Melbourne.
After being told on Thursday the game was off, Devils coach Cam Joyce hopes it can be played later in the season rather than scrapped completely.
The Devils are on top of the ladder after their round one mauling of Gippsland Power in Melbourne, but also had their round two date with Western Jets at the Twin Ovals cancelled.
Joyce said spirits were high among his group, even though they will not have played for four weeks when they meet the Oakleigh Chargers in Hobart next weekend.
“There is still a level of confidence from our first game and we can’t wait to get out there and play again,” he said.
“The girls will get together in their regions on Saturday, and then we have our normal training sessions on Monday and Wednesday next week leading into our game against Oakleigh.
“We are now focused on that and getting prepared to play next weekend.”
Joyce said the Devils, AFL and NAB League officials had provisions in place to catch up any missed games.
“We’ve got a bye in round seven and we can try and make up a game there,” he said.
“Also, on the Labour Day long weekend we have proposed to play two games over that period to try to pick up games.”
