Sydney FC is set to launch a female Academy with space for rising stars of the sport to join their under 15s and under 18s programs set to come into play late next year.

Sydney FC are looking to expand their pathway to the inaugural female Academy via an Academy Training Program (ATP) which will play a part in identifying young talent for the Academy.

While it is not the only way for young guns to attract attention it will provide a road map for many.

Sydney FC Technical Director, Youth, Kelly Cross, said young players can also contact the club directly.

“We don’t want them coming just because it might get your into the Academy,” he said.

“They all love the experience (of the ATP), it’s fun, engaging, continues their love of football and they all see to get better,” he said.

Cross said the club has widespread connections alerting them to rising stars with regional players able to “reach out to the club” if interested in the Academy.

The ATP is scheduled to be held every Sunday from October - if Covid restrictions are eased to allow it to go forward - in Kareela and Macquarie Park.

The program is for girls under born in 2009 and 2010.

The plan for the Sydney FC Female Academy is to start with the two age groups and grow from here, with the club working collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure it is providing the best solutions for the growth of the game.
