KARMICHAEL Hunt’s wife Emma has revealed the emotional toll of her husband’s drug and booze binges which she said were a stain on his life for “many years.”

The fallen three-code star’s cocaine disgrace while with the Gold Coast Suns AFL club last year was the first time he was caught but far from the first time he’d used illicit drugs.

Sunday night’s revelations on Channel Seven News further painted the picture that Hunt felt untouchable and that he would never be caught for his recurring off-season binges.

Wife Emma said she warned him several times to stop his destructive behaviour but was ignored.

“She tried many times to get me on the straight and narrow by saying ‘Look it’s not worth it …you could get into trouble’,” Hunt told Channel 7.

“I was ignorant to the fact I could get in trouble.”

That sick feeling of entitlement to whatever he wanted after finishing intense footy seasons meant his wife was almost relieved he was caught in February.

“I wasn’t overly surprised that this was happening to us,” Emma said.

“It was actually almost a sense of relief for me.

“I just felt like, hopefully, it was the end of it, a period of many years.”

She was pregnant when Hunt’s cocaine disgrace went public in February.

“I was three weeks away from having our third baby (Bodhi) so it was the last thing I needed to hear,” Emma said.

Suns wild child Harley Bennell has his own alleged drug demons to deal with.

He lived with the Hunts on the Gold Coast and through hard experience his failed mentor had words of advice for him.

“I’ve made my mistakes, I’ve put my hand up and owned it and Harley is going to have to do the same going forward,” said Hunt who said he’d spoken with Bennell.

Hunt named a dozen Suns players in connection to his own Mad Monday and golf trip booze and drugs shame last year in a statement to the Crime and Corruption Commission investigative team.

“I’ve been reading stories about the drug culture here and there. It is not the truth,” Hunt said.
