The Australian outfit for the Paris Olympics opening ceremony has copped another hammering on social media.

Former AFL player Daniel Gorringe took aim at the questionable attire on Thursday as he showed off the looks of competing nations.

Australia’s outfit choice hasn’t exactly gone over well with some current Olympians taking aim at the look, but Gorringe took a flamethrower to the design.

“So did Australia miss the memo on the Olympics becoming fashion week,” Gorringe said. “Because Mongolia look unbelievable, this is Haiti and they look again great … a fashion statement.

“Taiwan, just cool with it. Look at them, they don’t care about the Olympics but they look good because they’ve rolled up as fashion icons.”

It’s then that Australia’s outfit is display with Gorringe staring at the image in sheer disbelief.

“Did we miss the memo or like … what in the private school is this?” Gorringe says.

“Thank god there aren’t medals for best dressed because we wouldn’t even touch a bronze medal let alone a gold or a silver.

“Have we got netball at 11 and then debate at 1?”

Gorringe’s savage takedown of the Aussie attire comes after Matildas duo Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy roasted their uniforms in a viral TikTok upload.

The Matildas goalkeeper and veteran defender looked incredibly underwhelmed by the outfit as they awkwardly showed off the flowy skirt and skin tight top.

The upload was captioned “POV: Olympic gear arrived”, with fans all ridiculing the look as countless users tried to figure out what sport the look was for.

One user wrote: “Yes but go where? cottilion? the beach? year 10 formal?”

A second wrote: “It’s giving like family photos and your mums picked everyone’s matching outfits.”

A third added: “I feel awkward and it’s not even me in this dress.”

A fourth wrote: “I’m trying to guess what sport yall play and I can’t.”

The Australian Olympians’ Oath will be on the inside jacket pocket, with the names of all 301 Australian Olympic champions throughout the jacket lining.

The outfits will also feature Indigenous artwork “Walking Together” from Olympic boxer Paul Fleming in the pocket square and scarf and with the Olympians’ oath on the inside lining.

“Wearing an Australian Olympic opening ceremony uniform is a rare and special moment,” Australian Olympic team chef de mission Anna Meares said.

“I have had the honour of receiving four Australian Olympic team ceremony uniforms and I treasure each one. For Olympians, it brings us together, from different sports, backgrounds and experiences, proudly uniting us through that team uniform.

“It creates a connection and sense of belonging to the Australian Olympic team’s proud history. It begins our Olympic experience and post-Games continues to be worn by Olympians proudly to events, long past our days as elite athletes. It’s a uniform that is treasured and the quality, comfort and feel brings a pride and confidence to us all.

“I love that the Olympians’ oath will sit on the inside lining at heart level, with the support of all Australia’s Olympic champions throughout history wrapping around each of our team members for Paris.

“I know Aussie athletes are working hard to earn their own opportunity to don this uniform in Paris and with 100 days to go, this will add excitement and inspiration to the training and competition grind knowing this awaits their efforts.”
