Eddie McGuire rejects Karl Stefanovic’s weird French sex claims at 2024 Paris Olympic Games

Eddie McGuire has gone on a Parisian love offensive following crude comments about the French people and their capital city by fellow Channel 9 personality Karl Stefanovic.

Eddie McGuire has given a glowing appraisal of Paris in stark contrast to the less than favourable views delivered by Karl Stefanovic.

The Channel 9 hosts clearly share different views of their experiences in the Olympic city, with McGuire saying he loves the vibe, the history and the inspiration.

“The opposite,’’ McGuire said when asked his thoughts. “Love the vibe, people have been great, wonderful food, drivers have been hospitable.

“Can’t wait to get to the end so I can have some magnificent French wine. Shops, landmarks, history, fashion (is) inspirational.

“Wonderful Rodin and Picasso exhibitions, shops and fashion totally wonderful. The games have been inspirational and aspirational. It’s everything I hoped the Paris would be. Love it, Love Paris, Viva La France.”

On Monday Stefanovic said the French were rude, weird and pompous.

Though he’s been living it up in Paris while working, Stefanovic couldn’t hide his disdain for the locals.

“The French are weirdos. The French are complete weirdos. We all know that,” Stefanovic told The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

“They’re kind of a weird nation, sexually.”

Host Jackie Henderson asked if he’d tried to speak French. Stefanovic’s response was blunt.

“Do you know what? I’ve stopped trying. I don’t really like them that much,” Stefanovic said.

“They’re so rude. Oh, they’re really up themselves... they’re pompous. They do a good burger though. I do like the burgers and stuff over here.”

McGuire said more of the French ‘no rules apply’ needed to come into Melbourne life and quoted poet and playwright Oscar Wilde.

“When good Americans die, they go to Paris. Where do bad Americans go? They stay in America,’’ McGuire said.

“You can have all this if you want.

“I’m not a smoker but I love the French insouciance. We need to get that more into Melbourne. Too many rules. Too many people with no idea telling us how to live.

“I love the laissez-faire avant garde approach to life.

“They are French words because that is the “je ne sais quoi” of Paris. That’s the magic.”
