Paris Olympics 2024: Karl Stefanovic vs Snoop Dogg in commentary

It’s the television battle no-one in their wildest dreams would have imagined. But here we are. Welcome to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. It’s Australia’s Karl Stefanovic vs Snoop Dogg.

Look out, drum roll please … because here they come, the Olympic Games Paris 2024 star acts of the silver screen coming out to play and, can you believe it, it’s Snoop Dogg versus Karl Stefanovic.

And American network NBCUniversal – long considered the giant of Olympic broadcasters – doesn’t just feature global megastar Snoop Dogg.

Also enjoying headline billing for NBC are comedian and actor Jimmy Fallon, Emmy award-winning television host and Grammy-winning artist Kelly Clarkson, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and iconic country music performer Dolly Parton.

With Sunday Night Football and Olympic host Mike Tirico showing the way, NBCUniversal has more than 150 commentators arriving in Paris to deliver their unique spin promoting and covering the Games, beginning Saturday.

Nine Entertainment Australia’s Stefanovic arrived in Paris last Saturday and like a kid before Christmas is finding it hard to sleep. “I’m really looking forward to sitting in commentary booths next to the likes of Snoop Dogg,” he said.

Karl Stefanovic will anchor Channel Nine’s Olympics coverage.

“It doesn’t matter if you come from Cairns in north Queensland or from Compton in Los Angeles, the Games is the greatest show on Earth.

“Make no mistake, even with the likes of the Snoop here, the biggest stars in town are our athletes. I can’t wait for the Games to begin.”

Snoop Dogg will be sent out to explore the famous city and its landmarks, attending Olympic competitions and events as well as visiting athletes from all parts and meeting their friends and families.

“I grew up watching the Olympics and I’m thrilled to see these incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris,” said the rapper.

“And of course I’ll be bringing that Snoop-style to the mix.

“Let’s elevate, celebrate and make these Games unforgettable, smoke the competition and may the best shine like gold.

“Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig!”

Interestingly, former Channel Nine broadcaster, the great Ray Warren of rugby league and Olympic swim-calling fame, didn’t dig it when he once sat next to Snoop Dogg on a domestic flight back in Australia.

There they were side-by-side in 1A and 1C without a clue of either’s impact behind the microphone.

It was a scream watching them shuffle and look away in their pointy end seats.

Nothing like the ease of Dolly Parton’s badass cover of Queen’s We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You destined to be the anthem of this NBCUniversal coverage.

“I love the Olympics,” said Dolly, as only Dolly can.

“I laugh, I cry, I scream … there are no losers in the Olympics as they have all spent a lifetime preparing but I celebrate with the ones that go away with the gold, silver and bronze medals.”
