The overhaul of the NTFA has prompted a flurry of off season moves as plenty of players find new homes for 2025.

PREMIER LEAGUE
LAUNCESTON
Ryan Tyrrell: One of a handful of players to return to the Blues after a year with Bridgenorth. The club's former vice captain will add some much-needed experience and can play a variety of positions.
Zac Morris: The clever forward returns to the Blues after spending the back end of this year at Longford, helping the Tigers to a grand final. Has experience at VFL and SANFL level and has won premierships in the past with the Blues.
Archie Wilkinson: Wilkinson has topped the NTFA Premier League’s goal scoring at Hillwood the past two years, booting 57 in 2024. He and Morris are the only non-North Launceston players chosen in the northern talent academy thus far, and will significantly boost their forward line.
Jake Hinds: Hinds is preparing for his first senior coaching role after a year at Bridgenorth. He has recruited well, including a handful of former Blues returning to the fold. He can play up forward or in the midfield, and was the only NTFA player to represent Tasmania this year.
Ryan and Jordan Shipp: The brothers return after a year with Bridgenorth. Ryan made his senior debut for Launceston in 2023, while Jordan has played under-18s and Development League.
Jackson Thurlow: The former AFL star is back at the Blues after two years away from football to start a family.
Jacob Boyd: Boyd was part of the Blues’ flags from 2020-22, and the rebounding defender returns after two years at Hillwood.
Angus Jeffries: Back in the Blues fold after two seasons, Jeffries can play inside and outside midfield.
Jayden Hinds: A two-time premiership winner at Launceston, Hinds has followed his brother Jake back to the club.
Dylan Farquhar: Has established himself as one of the region’s best young rucks, and joins the Blues from Bridgenorth with one eye on forcing his way into representative football.
Miller Hodge - A former Blues vice captain and two-time flag winner, Hodge is another to return to Windsor Park.
DELORAINE
Johnny Elmer: Returns to the Roos fold after taking a season off.
LONGFORD
Charlie Taylor: Returns to the Tigers after taking this year off to travel. The crafty forward has speed and was the under-18 league’s leading goalkicker in 2022.
Isaac Chugg: Chugg played two AFL games for Collingwood in 2022, and has returned to his junior club. Was part of Launceston's 2020 senior premiership and was best and fairest with Wonthaggi last year.
SOUTH LAUNCESTON
Logan Smith: The Wynyard recruit is the brother of incumbent Bulldog Connor and will provide more depth across halfback for last year's NTFA premier division victors.
DIVISION ONE
BRACKNELL
Jye Doherty: Doherty joins the Redlegs after playing last season at Hillwood. A former NTJFA representative.
Sam Luttrell: Luttrell brings big game experience, having in Old Scotch's senior premiership last year after reserves and seniors flags with Longford the previous two years.
Josh Frankcombe: Frankcombe joins as a playing assistant and brings a wealth of premiership experience. The midfielder won flags at Old Scotch from 2013-16, and was player of the grand final in their triumph over Lilydale this year. He also captained Longford to their drought-breaking 2022 premiership.
Bailey Lowe: The 18-year-old was best on ground for South Launceston in their reserves grand final loss to Longford this year, and can play in a variety of positions.
Mitchell Fawkner: The experienced Fawkner is back in the fold and will add to the Redlegs’ midfield depth.
Codey Plummer: The medium size forward played with North Launceston in 2021 and 2022 and South Launceston in 2023 before taking this year off. Still only 19.
Matt Lang: Returns to the fold after a few years off to spend with his young family.
ST PATRICK’S
Dylan Riley: The two-time Hudson medallist and three-time flag winner at Launceston is one of the biggest moves of the off-season thus far.
Jobi Harper: Another decorated player from Launceston’s flag-winning dynasty. Harper didn’t play this year but heads to St Pat’s after winning four premierships and two Baldock medals at the Blues.
Cooper Shady: The inside midfielder has spent the past couple of years in Launceston’s Development League side, also playing a handful of senior games.
Cormac McDonald: The wing or halfback joins from Launceston’s Development League.
Ryan Choveaux: Joins after a season at Hillwood where he played nine senior games.
LILYDALE
Jay Lockhart: The highest profile of the signings thus far, with the 22-game former Melbourne Demons returning to his junior club. Has spent the past few years with Gold Coast heavyweights Southport and will be a playing assistant coach. Will travel to games from his north NSW base, and expects to play at least half of Lilydale’s games.
OLD LAUNCESTONIANS
Jake George: The wing has been signed from Hillwood after two years at the Sharks
Jasper Brown: Arrives from East Launceston Junior Football Club.
Luka Whitcombe: Has senior experience at Burnie and South Launceston, and played in the Bulldogs’ reserve grade grand final team this year.
Lachie Rowlands: Another recruit from South Launceston.
Will Bennett: Booted 50 goals for South Launceston’s reserves this year.
Sam Stedman: The former Grammar student joins his younger brother Jack at the club.
DIVISION TWO
PERTH
Jake Carins: A former captain and two-time best and fairest winner at the Magpies, Carin returns after three years at St Pats including a flag in 2022. Can play a number of roles including midfield, up forward and in the ruck.
Blair McGillvery: A strong addition to the back-line, McGillvery hasn't played since suffering an injury for the Magpies in early 2023.
Anthony Burbury: The key defender arrives after finishing runner up in UTAS’s best and fairest this year.
Josiah Burling: Burling racked up some big numbers in a struggling Launceston side off half-back this year. Was named in the NTFA team of the year when he played for the Magpies in 2023.
Rocky Barron: The crafty forward played for Launceston this year after two seasons with Longford.
Nathan Hayes: Joins from Hillwood and can slot in anywhere on the field.
Daniel Potter: The former George Town under-18 captain is a handy addition to the defence.
Reeve Harris: The small forward was runner-up in George Town’s reserves best and fairest this year.
BRIDPORT
Eric Izbicki: Reliable defender who has spent time at Launceston juniors and senior football with Longford and North Launceston.
Hamish Auton: Has had a few years off with injury and played juniors with Scottsdale and East Launceston.
Angus Robertson: The ruck or forward hasn't played for three years, but won three flags for Prospect and kicked over 100 goals.
Nic Sutton: Returns to the club after successful tenures including at North Launceston and Queensland's Noosa Tigers.
Jayden Blackwell: The ruck or defender played a handful of senior games for Bridgenorth this year.
James Hayward: Has a strong left foot and played over 70 senior games for Scottsdale.
Miles Smith: Joins from George Town and has represented the state in underage football.
EAST COAST SWANS
Sam Talbot: Joins the Swans after three years at Deloraine, where he was an integral part of the Roos' midfield.
Nathan Pearce: Finally back at the Swans after accumulating a strong CV elsewhere. The classy midfielder was named in the NTFA Team of the Decade (2010-20) was part of Hillwood’s premiership in 2019.
Olly Woodcock-Davis: Played in South Launceston’s premier division flag this year and can play key positions either end of the ground.
Karlton Wadley: A three-time TSL flag winner with Launceston, Wadley has played his recent football at Deloraine.
Damon Howe: Took this year off but adds great leadership as a former Hillwood premiership captain, and four-time inclusion in the NTFA’s team of the year.
EVANDALE
Shannon Brough: The man known as Muscles will help solidify the defence.
Aaron Walker: The physical midfielder joins the Eagles after having the past two seasons off.
Nathan Green: The speedy wing arrives at Evandale after a few years at Wesley Vale.
James Tyson: A multiple best and fairest winner with Deloraine’s reserves in recent years.
Nathan Rataj: The former Devonport Colts best and fairest winner has been plying his trade in Queensland, and is a handy addition to the Eagles' midfield.
Brad Lockett: Returns after time off with injury and has good goal sense.
Lachie Dakin: Dakin can play midfield or up forward and was part of Longford's 2022 premiership.
Cal Smith: Back in the midfield fold after taking this year off.
Stuart Gilpin: A former Deloraine reserve grade captain.
Zach Burt: The four-time North Launceston premiership player will also take on an assistant coaching role. Has represented Tasmania in the past and can play anywhere on the ground, but is known as a prolific goalkicker.
Daniel Berry: Was part of Longford's reserves flag this year.
Jordan Loone: Arrives after over 100 games with Deloraine.
Jackson Lowe: A former basketball state representative, Lowe is a ruck or forward and most recently played under-18s with Rocherlea.
Kieran Carlton: Returns after a few years away from football and has played his best in a defensive role.
Lochie Dornauf: The former Deloraine and NTFA rep team coach has been signed as the Eagle’s senior coach after a year overseas.
CAMPBELL TOWN
Daniel Bennett: The midfielder-forward is a solid pick-up for the NTFA newcomers from Longford.
Sam Henley: Played in two senior grand finals with Bracknell before taking a long break.
Jakob Madden: Part of Longford’s reserve grade flags the past three years, Madden has good goal sense as a small forward.
Tom Murfett: Was runner-up in Longford’s best and fairest this year, and plays mostly in defence.
Mitchell Shadbolt: Played 18s and reserves at Longford this year.
Jamie Rigby: Plays most ruck or centre half forward and most recently played with Perth.
Jack Ross: A utility from St Helens who can play either end.
Ben Ronken: Returns to the Robins after a Development League stint with North Launceston.
Casey Lockett: Most recently played with Bracknell, the defender took the last 18 months off to pursue a kickboxing career.
Corry Goodluck: The former Bracknell coach has made the NTFA team of the year three times and replace the outgoing Clinton Burn as Campbell Town’s head coach.
