Tigers star Moses Mbye’s contract saga is over with the utility officially signing with the Dragons.

After a reported bitter negotiation between the two clubs, Mbye’s situation has finally been resolved.

The 28-year-old has joined St George Illawarra on a two-year-deal, beginning from the start of the 2022 season.

It was reported last week that the deal was all but done, with an agreement for the Tigers to pay some of Mbye’s wages for the next two years.

It comes after reports last month the Dragons delivered an ultimatum to the Tigers its offer would be taken off the table if Mbye was not released to join the club immediately.

Mbye was linked to the Dragons earlier in the season only for a potential mid-season switch to fizzle out.

The 27-year-old, on $900,000 a season, has previously indicated he is open to a switch after standing down form the captaincy and finding himself in different positions during the year.

The August 1 player transfer deadline expired before an agreement could be reached.

Dragons general manager of football Ben Haran was pleased to have the Mbye signing completed after prolonged discussions.

“Moses is a player we discussed in detail and while it has taken some time for the club to reach a position where we’re comfortable in recruiting him, we couldn’t be happier bringing in a player of his experience,” Haran said.

“Moses’s ability to play multiple positions was something we identified as needing in order to strengthen our roster.

“The character of Moses and the qualities he’ll bring to the Dragons next year will only be beneficial to the team environment.”
