With over 135 million views and counting, Parramatta Eels junior Viliotu Masila has just become a global rugby league social media sensation.

A stunning clip of the Merrylands Rams under 18’s prop scoring a destructive full length of the field try has gone viral capturing the attention of sports fanatics all over the world.

What makes the try even more remarkable is the fact that Masila’s run was the first hit up of the game.

Running from the back fence to take the ball from the kick-off, Masila uses his size and pace to leave a trail of destruction in his wake on the way to the tryline.

The prop is seen making easy work of at least ten Moorebank Rams defenders, who are left with no choice but to clutch at thin air on Masila’s 100-metre sprint to the tryline.

The 17-year old’s efforts were originally viewed over seven million times when the footage was posted on Parramatta’s TikTok page last year.

The post soon went viral all around the globe with reports on social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and X, formally Twitter.

And the views just keep on coming.

A report of the video by Highlight Reel on YouTube saw the clip amass a huge 100 million views and two million likes on the site.

An Instagram page called Sky Rugby also shared Masila’s powerhouse run, which has almost 15.2 million views and 845,000 likes.

But the new found stardom hasn’t gone to the softly spoken prop’s head.

Masila, who won the try of the year for the play at Parramatta’s junior league awards night, said he was shocked at the reception to the 20-second clip.

“I wasn’t expecting the try to get posted. So it’s kind of crazy to get that many views on TikTok and stuff,” Masila said.

While Masila was taking it all in his stride, his young teammates haven’t let him forget the moment which has catapulted him to a world wide audience.

“They were just cracking jokes, it’s crazy seeing stuff like that, especially, Parra making videos like that for juniors. It’s pretty cool,“ Masila said.

Masila isn’t the only one who thinks ‘it’s pretty cool’.

Parramatta Eels fans have been flooding the video post with comments wanting assurances that the hulking teen has been signed by the club.

“Have we signed him?,“ Eels fan Steve inquired on TikTok.

Another fan, Dean, implored the Eels: “Don’t let this one go!”

Jordan wanted Parramatta to open their cheque book.

“Give him a 10 year contract please,” he pleaded.

While there was plenty of support for Masila among fans, there was also some sympathy for the defenders who were hopeless in stopping the surging prop.

“The last tackler was like “I choose life” and pretended to fall over lol,” another fan joked.
