The Brisbane Broncos have signed the son of former Kangaroos and New South Wales Origin powerhouse Tom Learoyd-Lahrs.
Townsville-based Kaiden Lahrs is a promising mobile middle forward who had talent scouts putting an asterisk next to his name when playing at the Queensland Secondary School Rugby League carnival in May this year.
Lahrs, who is in the Broncos academy, made this year’s Queensland schoolboys 14-15-years merit team at No.13 after shining for Northern.

The now Townsville-based Tom Learoyd-Lahrs was a huge man - 115kg and 194cm - who played four Origins and four Test matches in a career mainly with the Canberra Raiders after starting with the Broncos.
Lahrs and Townsville Blackhawks junior lock Jamal Shibasaki are two North Queensland talents signed by the Brisbane Broncos.
Shibasaki, a prop from Ignatius Park, is the brother of NRL centre Gehamat (Knights, Broncos).
But the Cowboys also have a good one from south east Queensland heading north, with Ipswich SHS Langer Trophy captain Kulikefu Finefeuiaki having his first off-season in Townsville.
The 1.92m tall rookie is an edge backrower whom his school coach Joshua Bretherton described as “fearless’’ who “plays football with absolutely everything he has got.’’
North Queensland also have Ipswich Grammar School backrower Will Sullivan signed.
