TO celebrate the upcoming release of the SuperCoach pre-season mag with Saturday’s Daily Telegraph, our experts reveal their first 10 players picked for 2016.
Here’s the first of the bunch from SuperCoach Editor Tom Sangster.
Stay tuned for stories from the rest of our crew, including 2015 co-winner Mary Kay and 2014 winner Dave Von Kotze. And don’t forget to get your pre-season mag with the paper for FREE this Saturday!
1. Andrew Fifita (Sharks) FRF - $464,000
One of the greats of SuperCoach, but owned by just seven per cent, ranking him as the 82nd most popular player. Why?
2. Paul Gallen (Sharks) FRF/FRF - $499,500
Repeat Fifita comments here. The best player in SuperCoach history is just the 37th most popular player. Forget his recent injury history, it’s very rare to get two genuine keepers as massive PODS.

3. Kane Evans (Roosters) FRF - $242,800
Played 60 minutes in the World Club Series match in the absence of Jared Wearea-Hargreaves (ACL), who could be out for the first 10 rounds. Had the best point per minute rate of any player in the NRL last year (1.42PPM) and has the potential to be an Andrew Fifita-like keeper.
4. Jordan Rankin (Tigers) five-eighth/FLB - $145,500
With Justin Hunt (back, indefinite) out, Rankin will score the wing spot vacated by Pat Richards at the Tigers and will kick goals.
5. Jaelen Feeney (Knights) five-eighth/FLB - $113,800
The former lower grade five-eighth will start at fullback for the Knights in round one and is a must-have cheapie.
6. Jackson Hastings (Roosters) HFB/five-eighth - $133,300
The most popular player in SuperCoach - and for good reason. Starts at bottom dollar, but will take James Maloney’s five-eighth spot at the Roosters, and will kick goals.
7. Latrell Mitchell (Roosters) CTW/FLB - $113,800
Bottom dollar cheapie was Inglis-like in the World Club Series and is set to start the year at centre.
8. Jayden Nikorima (Roosters) HOK/HFB - $113,800
Star cheapie had a hand in five tries in the World Club Series match and is available at both hooker and halfback for SuperCoach.
9. Ashley Taylor (Titans) HFB/five-eighth - $133,300
Missed the final trial with a shoulder injury but is certain to get a decent run in the Gold Coast halfback spot following the injury to Kane Elgey (ACL, season).
10. Bryce Cartwright (Panthers) five-eighth/2RF - $361,600
Has potential to be the best player in SuperCoach if given minutes. Dual position.
* League filler incentive: The 20 player private league that scores the highest combined number of points during round one will win $20,000 — $1,000 for each player.
