SuperCoach Perfect 8: Trent Copeland’s round 4 recap and round 5 preview
THERE was no Perfect 8 winner in round 4 which means the cash pool jackpots to $45,000 for round 5. Trent Copeland has all the inside mail on who to pick this week.

WAS there a perfect 8 winner in round four? NO! That means that the initial $25,000 prize jackpots by $5,000 again to be $45,000 this week. That’s proper cash!
For the record, the perfect 8 for round three would have been …
Moses Mbye 112 (Bulldogs vs. Rabbits)
Corey Parker 99 (Broncos vs. Cowboys)
Ryan James 98 (Raiders vs. Titans)
Shaun Kenny-Dowall 111 (Roosters vs. Sea Eagles)
Josh Dugan 105 (Dragons vs. Panthers)
Shaun Johnson 86 (Warriors vs. Knights)
Junior Paulo 83 (Tigers vs. Eels)
Felise Kaufusi 76 (Sharks vs. Storm)
If you had picked Felise Kaufusi, you’d have to be crazy! But that seems to be what it takes to take out the cash in Perfect 8. Here’s my somewhat sane picks for round five.
LISTEN TO OUR ROUND 5 SUPERCOACH PODCAST
Sea Eagles vs. Rabbits
Thursday 8.05pm at Brookvale Oval
Jamie Lyon CTW (Sea Eagles) – It’s a left-field choice with Sam Burgess clearly the ‘favourite’ for top point scorer, but that’s what this game is all about. Lyon has been kicking well and although the undermanned Sea Eagles may struggle to put up huge points, you’d think the greatest SuperCoach CTW of all time would be involved heavily.
Other options: Sam Burgess, Tom Trbojevich, Cody Walker
Titans vs. Broncos
Friday 8.05pm at CBus Super Stadium
Anthony Milford 5/8 (Broncos) – There’s no one with the upside that Milf has, plain and simple. The only one that goes close is the returning Corey Oates who may well be on the end of some Milford magic down the left side. Average of 98.8 against the Titans across his career, lock him in.
Other options: Corey Parker, Corey Oates, Ben Hunt
Storm vs. Knights
Saturday 3.00pm at AAMI Park
Cameron Munster CTW | FLB (Storm) – The kid is a star, has gone so close to scoring numerous tries in the three weeks he has had the custodian role. Up against a hapless Knights outfit I think he may well go LARGE.
Other options: Cameron Smith, Blake Green, Jesse Bromwich
Tigers vs. Sharks
Saturday 5.30pm at Campbelltown Stadium
James Tedesco FLB (Tigers) – I find it hard to look past the guy with arguably the best attacking game in the business. While his try-saving tackles last week were great – they don’t get us any points! So here’s hoping a few tries are on the horizon this Saturday in front of their home crowd.
Other options: James Maloney, Ben Barba, Mitchell Moses.
Cowboys vs. Dragons
Saturday 7.30pm at 1300SMILES Stadium
Michael Morgan FLB | 5/8 (Cowboys) – Shock horror … I didn’t pick JT! While I don’t think you can go wrong picking JT, I also see some form developing for his halves partner in Morgan. He was everywhere in the GF rematch last week, and with scores of 78 and 92 the last two weeks he’s definitely a strong option.
Other options: Jonathan Thurston, Lachlan Coote, Josh Dugan
Roosters vs. Warriors
Sunday 2.00pm at Central Coast Stadium
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Warriors) – Up against his former club, with two weeks in a row of impressive performances, I think RTS could be in for huge numbers this week. He and Shaun Johnson seem to have found a rhythm and the Roosters are letting in points for fun …
Other options: Shaun Johnson, Solomone Kata, Blake Ferguson
Eels vs. Panthers
Sunday 4.00pm at Pirtek Stadium
Semi Radradra CTW (Eels) – He was one of my Captains picks this week and with good reason he gets the start in this column too. Averages over a try-a-game at Pirtek Stadium, and will be hard to stop for DWZ on that left edge.
Other options: Trent Merrin, Manu Ma’u, Josh Mansour
Bulldogs vs. Raiders
Monday 7.00pm at Belmore Sports Ground
Moses Mbye HFB (Bulldogs) – The kid is on FIRE! So why would we bet against that trend continuing, particularly when playing at the spiritual home of the Bulldogs, Belmore. SuperCoach GOLD projects Mbye to score 108 points this week.
Other options: Jarrod Croker, Curtis Rona, Aiden Tolman
