SOME key stats are just pure interesting, and some can be the difference between success and failure in any given H2H match up, which started for everyone last weekend.
For anyone who lost a tight tussle, make sure you look at this week’s form indicators and projections stats to give you that slight edge.
Here we go stats nerds…
* Cody Walker | 28…. Then -7
This one is a lesson in the SuperCoach rolling average price structure. For those looking at Cody Walker as a sell this week due to his BE of 28, I suggest you look a little deeper. Prices are derived through the ‘magic number’ and fluctuate based off three-game averages. My point here is, yes Walker’s BE is 28 this week which he may or may not achieve, but after this week, his horrible 15 point effort against the Dragons drops out of his rolling average and the money making will begin again. This is important to look at before jumping the gun with cashing in your rookies.
* Anthony Milford | 3/3
We all know the attacking prowess of the man we love to call The Milf, arguably the best player in all of SuperCoach right now, priced at $501K with scores of 51, 90, 136 and 90 so far this season. Well… an interesting stat is this. In all three Broncos wins this season, Milf has kicked a field goal. At 5 points a pop, add it to the tally of ways he racks up the points every week.
* Moses Mbye | #1
Who has the most points of any player in SuperCoach after four rounds? Not Milf. Not Teddy. It’s this guy, Moses Mbye (that even rhymes). 384 points in 4 games, with two massive 100+ scores. Those who started with he and Milford as their halves combo must be laughing at the rest of us mere plebs. From round 7 to the all important round 12 bye that Mbye covers so well, he plays: Warriors, Titans, Eels, Tigers, Roosters and Raiders. Man, can we wind it back three weeks and I’ll buy a truckload of Mbye stock!
* Dragons | 2nd Half
This one is for all who own the likes of Josh Dugan, Gareth Widdop, Euan Aitken et al. Dugan’s try in the 76th minute at WIN stadium on the weekend was the first Dragons try in the second half since round one. If your Dragons are struggling at half time, I wouldn’t have your fingers crossed for a huge JT-like second half performance.

* Te Maire Martin | -64
Do you dare? A BE of -64 and projected rises of $138k in the next three weeks according to SuperCoach GOLD projections lends itself to a must-have cheapie. But, with Brenton Lawrence and Corey Oates on the wanted list this week and a few selection shocks (ie. Paul Carter) to deal with, let alone the impending return of James Segeyaro … it could be destined to fail, we shall see.
* Kirisome Auva’a | 103
Auva’a was on many a SuperCoach watch-list to begin the season, only for him to be left out in favour of Hymel Hunt. Now he has scored a wing spot for this weekend’s clash with a DCE-less Sea Eagles outfit who he has a career average of 103 against … Expect a big one, and at a mere $166K, he could be a straight swap for those still holding onto Nathan Green.
* James Maloney | -17
No, it’s not his BE. -17 is the league-leading amount of points for… you guessed it - missed tackles. We talk about matchups that will affect a weekend’s results, well this week a normally high scoring Tigers outfit (I say normally because they didn’t register a point last week against the Eels) hosts the Sharks at Campbelltown Stadium. Play your Tigers, particularly Naiqama and Nofoaluma who will be attacking Maloney’s side, with confidence.
* Ben Matulino | 36
This one you may be able to guess… Yes, it’s effective offloads. What you wouldn’t guess is the makeup of the top five in this category. Matulino leads the way with 36 points in total through 4 rounds, second is Will Chambers on 32 points, but interestingly, just behind on 28 points after just two matches is Leivaha Pulu! Pulu is level with Brad Takarangi and Corey Parker to round out the top five.
* James Tedesco & Paul Gallen | 151 & 136
These numbers represent the respective BEs of these two SuperCoach greats. Tedesco is projected to score 69 points this week which would see his price drop by $42,700. Knowing Teddy isn’t in my side however he’s due to bang out a 150. Gal, however is unlikely to go anywhere near his BE score in his first week back from injury, meaning he could well be available in the low $400,000s in the coming weeks … Are you too scarred by injury history to jump back on with Origin looming?
* Jake Trbojevic | 82
Behind only Anthony Milford and Moses Mbye this week is Jake Trbojevic when it comes to SuperCoach GOLD’s projections for the highest score. Trbojevic has played 73mins, 80mins and 80mins in the last three rounds, and has averaged a solid 0.9PPM. Still at only $355,100, JTurbo as he’s affectionately known, should be firmly on your radar.
That’s it for the stats fix this week, hopefully these little gems have triggered some interest or unearthed a hidden star of round 5 for you.
