The Melbourne Storm are set to sign Tigers flyer David Nofoaluma for the remainder of the 2022 season, ending their desperate search for an outside back recruit.

After being heavily linked to Warriors fullback Reece Walsh, as well as contacting the Titans about Jayden Campbell’s availability — the Storm are finally set to land their man.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Nofoaluma is preparing to make the switch south, hoping to revive his season after a turbulent year.

The 175-gamer spent time sidelined due to concussion before being dropped from the first grade squad for drinking while recovering from injury.

The move could also see the 28-year-old make a career-first finals appearance after debuting in 2013.

Nofoaluma’s last appearance for the Tigers was in the club’s Round 17 loss to the Eels, scoring two tries.

Craig Bellamy’s side made a number of inquiries to rival clubs, hoping to fill the void left by injuries to key outside backs including Ryan Papenhuyzen, Reimis Smith, George Jennings and Xavier Coates.

Along with Campbell and Walsh the Storm were reportedly linked with a number of Tigers players including Daine Laurie, Adam Doueihi and Ken Maumalo, while also approaching the Bulldogs and Panthers for Josh Addo-Carr and Robert Jennings.

Nofoaluma is expected to join his new teammates this week and is firming to appear in his new colours for the club’s Round 21 clash against the Titans.

He also holds the record for the most tries scored ever for the Tigers, with the club signing him on a deal worth a reported $500,000-a-season.

The merger club are set to save around $100,000 by offloading his contract.
