South Sydney forward Cameron Murray is “confident” Damien Cook will play against the Roosters on Friday despite the star hooker battling a minor quad strain.
Cook was reportedly set to miss the blockbuster top four clash against the Roosters as precaution to recover from his quad injury.
However, Murray revealed his NSW Blues teammate had been progressing well at training and was a strong chance to take on the Tricolours.
“I think from what I’ve seen and heard from him, he is pretty confident that he can take part on the weekend,” Murray said.
“See how he pulls up in the next few days, but I’ve had a brief chat to Damien, and he mainly did some rehab on the side, as he had a bit of a sore quad.
“I’m not sure how severe it is, but he pulled up from the running session pretty good and I think he is on track to play on the weekend.
“I’m sure time will tell if he is right or not, but I know Damien and I know that he doesn’t like missing footy, so I know he is going to be doing everything he can to get his body right.”
Murray will celebrate his 100th NRL game for the Rabbitohs against the Roosters on Friday – a milestone he couldn’t be prouder to achieve.
“It is a massive milestone for me,” he said.
“It is something that I’ve been reflecting on a little bit over the last couple of days.
“I remember my first game like it was yesterday, so it is special to play 100 games for the club I grew up supporting and wanted to play for my entire life.
“But I’m trying not to think about it too much because I want to make sure that the team focus is there.”
