It was reported Thursday morning on Triple M that due to salary cap constraints, the Bulldogs were attempting to move Mahoney.
Given Mahoney was a huge reason behind the Bulldogs’ 2024 rejuvenation, it’s a hard possibility to fathom, but Gould quickly poured cold water on the reports.
“It’s complete rubbish,” Gould told WWOS.
“There is absolutely nothing to it.
“I know Reed’s manager really well, and I’m confident he hasn’t shopped him around.
“I know that no one from our club has shopped him around.”

Mahoney is entering his third season at the Bulldogs after joining from Parramatta.
His form was mixed in his first year at the club and before the 2024 season, he was stripped of the captaincy in favour of Stephen Crichton.
While he was disappointed, without the captaincy pressure on his shoulders, Mahoney was excellent for the Dogs in 2024.
He was in a tie for second among hookers in try assists (11) and led the NRL in tackles.
