The Gold Coast Titans may have lost narrowly to Parramatta in their first hit out of the NRL season, but they can claim bragging rights in the try celebration stakes thanks to Phillip Sami.
It was a seesawing contest on Sunday afternoon between the Eels and Titans in the highest scoring game of Round 1.

Parramatta led 26-22 at half time but early in the second stanza, Sami scored his second try of the game to bring the Titans back into it.
The winger chased down a long bomb from halfback Will Smith, leapt into the air and plucked the ball from Bailey Simonsson’s grasp, before diving over in the corner.
Parramatta fullback Clint Gutherson was the last line of defence but there was little he could do as Sami slithered across for a four-pointer.
Sami then got to his feet and gave Gutherson a taste of his own medicine by standing over him and unleashing the Eels captain’s trademark “Gutherino” shimmy with his arms raised.

Sami’s cheeky try celebration aimed at Gutherson wasn’t lost on the commentators and NRL fans.
Andrew Voss said on Fox League: “Did you see that? He’s done the Gutherino over the top of Clint Gutherson. Not lost in the moment. Bit of gamesmanship. Well that is rubbing it in.”
Sports journalist Alexander Grant tweeted: “The Phillip Sami celebration standing over Clint Gutherson was awesome.
“If you’re a Parra fan who didn’t like that then you need to loosen up and not be so thin skinned. I love when players do this stuff. #NRLEelsTitans.”

The action slowed down with Sami’s try the only one scored in the second half as Parramatta secured a 32-28 victory.
Mitchell Moses missed two conversions but nailed three penalty goals in the second half, which ultimately proved to be the difference between the Eels and the Titans.
Sean Russell starred for Parramatta with a first half hat-trick.
