Peter V’landys is unfazed that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has officially called this year’s federal election for May 3 – the same weekend as the NRL’s hugely popular Magic Round in Brisbane.
The NRL’s Magic Round will be held at Suncorp Stadium with eight games staged across the entire weekend from May 2 to May 4.
Albanese’s favourite team, the South Sydney Rabbitohs will face the Newcastle Knights at 3pm on Election Day, May 3.
V’Landys said he had no concerns that the election would impact the interest levels of fans.
“It’s actually a masterstroke by Albo,” V’landys said.
“Because of Magic Round, everyone will remember that there’s an election on.
“I think it’s safe to say that we should be ready for a lot of pre-polls from the thousands of fans that have already bought tickets to Magic Round.‘’
