ANZ Stadium will be the best venue in the southern hemisphere once it is turned into a roofed 75,000 seat rectangle stadium.

That doesn’t mean it should be used every weekend for the NRL.

It will be a world class venue that should be restricted to major events.

State of Origin, the grand final, any NRL semi-final between teams from Sydney’s west and half a dozen rugby league blockbusters like the games over easter.

Throw in two A-League derbies, a couple of English Premier League team games, a Bledisloe Cup and major concerts.

When teams like the South Sydney Rabbitohs are hosting the Gold Coast Titans, the game should be played at a regional venue.
