NRL world stunned by major Broncos change as logo and jerseys undergo makeover

The NRL world has been left divided by a shock Broncos change ahead of the 2026 season with a massive club rebrand revealed.

On the back of dual grand final glory in 2025, the Broncos have undergone a major rebrand with a new logo and jersey revealed for the upcoming season.

It is the club’s most dramatic makeover in 25 years, spearheaded by a modern new logo that features the iconic Bronco front and centre.

A stripe flowing through the Bronco is a tribute to the Brisbane River.

The fresh shield is a nod to the original 1988 Brisbane logo.

Signage at the Broncos’ Red Hill headquarters and billboards across Queensland are now displaying the new logo - which is only the third in the Club’s 38-year history.

The rebrand also comes with a battle cry for the next era – “We Charge On”. The club says it is a statement of intent for the organisation to become a globally recognised name that is seeking not just more titles but dominance.

“This is more than just a logo – it’s a statement of who we are, where we’re from and importantly, where we’re headed,” said CEO Dave Donaghy as the new logo was unveiled on Tuesday morning.

“We’d be doing the Club, our Members and fans a disservice if we didn’t prepare for the broader opportunities in front of us.

“And what a way for our old logo to bow out, having been part of some of the Club’s greatest moments, including the history that was made this year.”

The design was developed in partnership with the global agency DDB Group, following 18 months of consultation with Broncos players, staff, and sponsors.

But fans are divided over its new look, with the Broncos’ nickname controversially removed from the logo for the first time in the club’s history, with the simplistic design not everyone’s cup of tea.

“Why do these higher-ups think generic, bland modern logos are the right move? The Brisbane one is a horrific change, and the Bulldogs one screams ChatGPT,” one disgruntled fan wrote.

“Broncos have single-handedly killed their club with that logo,” another added.

“Whoever thought this was a good idea should be banished from Queensland,” a third wrote.

But other fans liked the simplistic design.

“I’m starting to get on board with it,” one commented on the Broncos’ post.

While others said “it’s growing on me” and “I like it”.

The club’s new jerseys were first seen on Code Sports, with one image showing superstar fullback Reece Walsh wearing a blue strip that is a tribute to legendary scout Cyril Connell.

While Brisbane’s famous maroon-and-gold home strip will remain, a blue kit will replace the white seen in 2025.

It is a nod to Connell, who passed away in 2009 aged 81, after signing some of the club’s most famous players, including Ben Hunt – the only player on the current roster to have pulled on the other Broncos navy jersey in 2010.
