Warriors prop Kane Evans could be outed for as many as five weeks as part of nine charges coming out of the last round clash with the Titans that coach Nathan Brown said was “embarrassing”.
As if a 44-loss to the Titans wasn’t bad enough for Evans, the NRL judiciary slapped him with a grade one dangerous contact to the head or neck charge for an incident in the 53rd minute on Beau Fermor plus a grade two contrary conduct charge for his involvement in a fight.
The former Eels and Roosters forward has a shocking judiciary record built up over two years, meaning he will receive a five-week ban if he takes the early guilty plea for both charges.
Fellow Warriors teammate Matt Lodge was also charged with dangerous contact for the incident that started the fight and is facing a one-match ban even if he enters an early guilty plea.
Warriors rookie fullback Reece Walsh was also charged with contrary conduct and could sit out his team’s season opener in 2022.
Thankfully for the Gold Coast, Mitch Rein (dangerous contact), Jarrod Wallace (contrary conduct) and Jamal Fogarty (dangerous throw) have avoided suspensions heading into Saturday‘s final against the Sydney Roosters.
In other news, St George Illawarra forward Josh McGuire could spend six weeks on the sidelines after being hit with two high tackle charges.
McGuire committed two careless high tackles during the Dragons’ 20-16 loss to South Sydney on Saturday night.
The former Maroons and Kangaroos firebrand has a poor record at the judiciary in the past two seasons.
