NRL to investigate Broncos stars Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam over alleged Bali incident

Less than 24 hours after the Broncos parted ways with coach Kevin Walters, stars Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam are being investigated by the NRL after an alleged incident in Bali.

Brisbane Broncos stars Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam are being investigated by the NRL following an alleged incident involving damage to a mobile phone in Bali.

On the back of the controversial departure of coach Kevin Walters on Thursday, the Broncos are now facing another off-field distraction involving two of their highest-profile players.

The NRL confirmed it has received a complaint relating to the Broncos players and the game’s Integrity Unit is now investigating.

Walsh and Mam have been holidaying on the Indonesian island following Brisbane’s dramatic NRL season collapse.

The complaint is understood to involve damage to a third party’s mobile phone.

The Broncos are aware of the matter and have been told the damage occurred while Walsh was being persistently filmed by an Australian man in a Bali nightclub.

The man’s phone was damaged and has since been replaced and paid for by Mam.

Walsh and Mam’s manager, Nash Dawson, said the matter had been settled privately.

“The damaged phone was simply an accident within a heavily populated nightclub in Bali,” he said.

“A person’s phone was dropped and damaged, to which that person has asked for the player to pay for the damages and the player has already paid it.”

The NRL was notified of the incident, which did not involve police, by a third party and is conducting its own investigation.

The incident is unlikely to attract any severe penalties from the NRL.

Walsh and Mam are a large part of Brisbane’s long-term future.

Earlier this year, Mam signed a bumper contract extension keeping him at the Broncos until 2029.

Walsh has also agreed to a new $4.4 million deal which will see him remain in Broncos colours for the same period.
