NRL Market Watch: Alex Seyfarth re-signs with Wests Tigers, Matt Moylan signs with Kincumber Colts in Central Coast competition

Benji Marshall has continued to bolster his stocks by re-signing local junior Alex Seyfarth, while the Central Coast rugby league comp has added more star power with the signing of former NSW, Cronulla and Penrith playmaker Matt Moylan.

Benji Marshall has continued to bolster his stocks by re-signing local junior Alex Seyfarth on a three-year contract extension. Seyfarth has previously been criticised for discipline issues on the field, but Marshall has shown faith in his fiery second-rower to hand him a new deal.

“We are stoked to have Alex and his family with us long term,” Marshall said. “He is a great asset to the team, and we love the energy and passion he brings on and off the field.”

Seyfarth, 26, has managed 70 games for the Tigers since debuting, and has been pencilled in as the club’s starting second-rower in the new year.

A local junior with the Dundas Shamrocks, Seyfarth holds a place for the Tigers close to his heart, and is honoured to re-sign at the club he made his debut for in 2020.

“I’m really pleased and excited to have re-signed with this club. It means a lot to me and my family,” Seyfarth said. “We have a great group here, and I can’t wait to rip in with my teammates for a few more years.”

Seyfarth isn’t the only Tigers re-signing, with the club also securing two juniors on long term deals.

Australian Schoolboy representative Jared Haywood, and Harold Matthews grand finalist Christian Taupau-Moors have been locked down at the club until at least 2028.

Former State of Origin star Matt Moylan has followed ex-teammate James Maloney into the Central Coast rugby league competition this season.

Three weeks after Maloney announced he would join Ourimbah Wyoming Magpies, Moylan revealed a move to Kincumber Colts.

Moylan played 191 NRL games with Cronulla and Penrith along with a 26-match stint with Leigh in England.

He also represented NSW and Australia.

“Big news alert, Colts fans,” Kincumber posted on social media.

“We’re over the moon to welcome the legendary Matt Moylan to the Kincumber Colts RLFC family.

“With an impressive career across the NRL, Super League, and international stages, Matt is ready to bring his magic to our field in 2025.

“Matt’s skill and experience will be a game-changer for us, and we can’t wait to see him in action.”

Moylan, 33, played three games for NSW and one match for Australia.

Maloney and Moylan played together with NSW and Australia in 2016.

Moylan played with Penrith between 2013 and 2017 before a six-season stint at Cronulla. He played five-eighth and fullback.
