A huge fan favourite at Red Hill, the State of Origin lock has now rekindled his relationship with Bronte Gildea, a reporter for the Nine Network on the Gold Coast, according to Code Sports.
The website reported that Gildea may be Carrigan’s plus-one for the Broncos’ season launch on Thursday night.
Carrigan made his debut for the NRL giants back in 2019 and quickly established himself in the side, leading to Maroons and Australian honours in 2022.
Carrigan and Gildea have known each other for a long time, dating as teenagers before they took a break and pursued their respective careers.
But they have now rekindled their relationship, surely breaking the hearts of countless fans of the Broncos’ vice-captain and reigning player of the year.
While Reece Walsh remains the most popular figure at the Broncos, the long flowing locks and 190cm, 106kg frame Carrigan boasts is giving the flashy fullback a run for his money.
And it seems Carrigan might be ready to settle down.
Carrigan has relocated from Brisbane to the Gold Coast and is said to be loving life on the beachside strip.
Meanwhile, on top of his enormous popularity, Walsh is also targeting the mantle of best player in the game.
The 22-year-old has tightened his inner circle to avoid drama and is focused on winning with his Brisbane teammates in 2025.
Walsh told The Sydney Morning Herald that the goal of being the best fullback in the game and eventually the best player in the NRL is what drives him to get better every day.
“If you play this game and you don’t want to be the best, you shouldn’t be playing,” Walsh said.
“Of course that’s what I want. I want to be the best in my position.
“If I work hard, and my teammates hold me to a high standard and I hold myself to high standards, I know I can be anything.
“It’s pretty crazy. I didn’t think I’d play in the NRL. I always thought it was out of reach.
“Being in the position I’m in now, I have awesome people around me who will push me to my limits, have those hard and honest conversations with me, and drive me to be better every day.”
Walsh has scored 34 tries in 74 NRL games for the Warriors and Broncos since his debut in 2021 and has five Origins for Queensland to his name and a grand final appearance in 2023.
