‘Blamed for every loss’: Sad Dylan Brown truth called out as Tigers hammer woeful Eels side

Earlier this week Dylan Brown informed the Eels he will be leaving at the end of the seasons and in his first outing since fans had their say on the matter.

Questions are being raised over whether Dylan Brown will see out the 2025 NRL season in first grade with Parramatta after the half was relentlessly booed by fans as they were flogged 32-6 by the Tigers on Sunday.

As good as the Tigers were, they were helped by a horror performance from the Eels, whose attack looked completely directionless without star halfback Mitch Moses.

Parramatta fans had to wait until the last minute for anything to cheer about with winger Sean Russell crossing over for a try in the closing seconds.

But even in the massive defeat, many Eels fans’ voices got a workout, by letting Brown know how they felt about his upcoming move to Newcastle.

Brown was already on upwards of $1 million a season with the Eels and was signed until 2031, but his contract with the club was littered with get-out clauses, meaning other rival sides could swoop in for 2026 and beyond.

And swoop the Knights did, tabling Brown and offer simply too good to refuse, $13m over 10 years.

But despite being headed for the exit at the end of the year, the Parramatta No. 6 said he was committed to giving everything for Parramatta this season.

And while try he did on Sunday, Brown looked lost for ideas as a seriously understrength side lacking plenty of experience was blown away by a hungry Tigers side.

While Brown’s performance was below par, his effort couldn’t be questioned, frequently taking on the line with his running game and trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to get his side back in the contest.

Brown had 11 runs, a linebreak and 19 tackles on a scorching Sunday afternoon in Sydney.

Yet many fans put the loss squarely on his shoulders.

“Brave performance from Parramatta today, especially whilst missing both of their halves, Dylan Brown and Moses,” one fan wrote on X.

“Can we not play him anymore his a disgrace. Cannot game manage at all,” another said after the loss.

“Dylan Brown has no influence at all in a game, the odd run is about it. No wonder plenty of Parra fans want him gone,” a third added.

While another disgruntled Eels fan said: “This is easily the worst Parra team ever assembled in the last 30 years. How Dylan Brown is allowed to continue is an absolute blight on the club.”

However, in a side lacking experience and quality, it is unfair to pin the loss squarely on Brown.

But as one NRL fan pointed out, the No. 6 may need to stay off social media after a defeat while he remains at Parramatta as fans will blame every loss on him irrespective of his effort or performance.

“Dylan Brown about to get blamed for every Eels loss this year, even when the rest of the team play like spuds,” one fan wrote.

While another joked: “Can’t believe he made penisini turn in 25 times today.”

While Eels coach Jason Ryles didn’t condemn the backlash his star No.6 copped either, saying post-match that the fans booing him is “just footy”.

“That’s just footy, that’s just emotional fans and they’re passionate and potentially that’s the way they feel,” Ryles said in response to what his take is on fans booing Brown.
