NETBALL boss Aaron Pidgeon has kicked a goal by landing North Melbourne’s role as Head of Tasmania, the Kangaroos announced on Thursday.

It capped a big week for the AFL club and its connection to the state, after it signed Tasmanian player High Greenwood from the Gold Coast Suns.

North Melbourne chief commercial officer Sam Bingley was delighted with Pidgeon’s appointment.

“It has been a great week for the club in Tassie,” he said. “First we signed local boy Hugh Greenwood and now we have landed another talented Tasmanian in Aaron.”

Pidgeon joined North Melbourne from Netball Tasmania, where he was chief executive officer from 2017.

His role included overseeing all 14 member associations in the state and management of the relationship with Magpies Netball, an affiliate of the Collingwood Football Club.

After starting his career in financial services, Pidgeon became involved in high-performance sport in various coaching and consultancy roles over 20 years.

“We were very pleased with the quality of candidates for the role and we’re absolutely thrilled Aaron accepted the position,” Bingley said.

“He’s got a great pedigree in sport in this region, he understands the Tassie landscape, has deep relationships with key local stakeholders and he fits the profile of the type of person we’re looking for at the Kangaroos.”
