NBL: Marcus Lee released by Tasmania JackJumpers
The reigning NBL champions have made one of their first moves of the off-season with an import not offered a new deal.

The Tasmania JackJumpers have started reconstructing its roster in a bid to chase back-to-back NBL titles.
The club has confirmed big man Marcus Lee would not have his contract extended with the club farewelling him for his positive energy on and off the floor.
Lee was sidelined for the last two games of the NBL Championship series against Melbourne United after suffering a knee injury.
“Marcus has been a great person to have at the club and quickly became very well liked both everyone within the club and obviously by the fans,” Jackies coach Scott Roth said.
“He brought a great energy to the group and was obviously a great presence on the floor for us.”
In his only season with the JackJumpers, Lee played 34 games of which 32 were starts.
“Marcus was a fantastic contributor to our club this season, we’ve loved having both him and Amber in Tasmania and thank them for everything they’ve done for the club,” club chief executive Christine Finnegan said.
“We wish Marcus and Amber the very best for their future. They have so much to look forward to, especially their long-awaited wedding in July and we wish them every happiness for the special day.”
Upon lifting the NBL title, Lee took to social media.
“I’ve finally had time to sit and think about the season we just had and what comes to my mind is the word thankful,” he said.
“I’m thankful for my teammates. Y’all made me better each day in many different ways. Challenging me mentally and physically. Having my bad and being there when I need you guys.
“So here’s to us.”
Lee joined the JackJumpers for their third season of NBL basketball after crossing from Melbourne United where he played the last 17 games of the 2022-23 season.
The American import came to Australia with a strong reputation with a career which included time in the famous University of Kentucky US college system.
Throughout the season he averaged 6.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game.
