Replay: NAB League – Tasmania v Northern Territory

The 16-year-old brother of a young AFL star put on a clinic in the NAB League on the weekend as he continues to become one of the hottest prospects for next year’s AFL Draft.

Zane Duursma, who is the younger brother of Port Adelaide forward Xavier Duursma, booted six goals for Gippsland Power in his side’s 17-point win over the Bendigo Pioneers on Sunday.

The bag of goals came from 15 disposals, six marks (five contested), 10 score involvements and four tackles.

Duursma also logged one score assist on his way to 169 KFC SuperCoach ranking points for the match.

Only three of Duursma’s goals came from set shots, with his bag including one lovely snap from close to the boundary line in the right forward pocket and another major where he cleverly spun out of trouble and dribbled through a goal.

A 188cm forward who has clean hands and is good above head, Duursma was included as a bottom-age player in the NAB AFL Academy this year.

He made his NAB League debut for the Power as a 15-year-old last season and impressed with 12 disposals and three goals against the Sydney Swans Academy team.

Duursma does not turn 17 until August, but has kicked multiple goals in all five of his games for Gippsland so far this season.

Duursma’s highly-rated teammate, Bailey Humphrey, also produced another strong game, the 184cm midfielder racking up 25 disposals (13 contested), seven marks, five clearances, six tackles and nine score involvements.

Tasmanian Devils forward Seth Campbell was the highest-ranked player in the NAB League in Round 5, scoring 213 ranking points for his performance against Northern Territory Thunder.

Campbell logged 31 disposals, 11 marks, four tackles, 14 score involvements, three score assists and five goals in a thumping 117-point win for his side.

Only four NAB League matches were played at the weekend as part of a three-week period of rolling byes for teams.
