MIGHTY Thor Boscott signed off on his four-year tenure as Cygnet coach by leading The Port to one of the greatest SFL premiership wins of all time and claiming a second best-on-ground grand final medal to boot.

Boscott added the Gorringe-Martyn Medal to the one he won when he led Cygnet to the premiership in 2021.

In his four years at the helm, Boscott led Cygnet to four consecutive grand finals and two flags _ not bad for a guy who started his senior coaching career aged 25.

The ever-humble and fearsome onballer gave all the credit to his teammates for staging what was a comeback for the ages, which ended the Huonville Lions’ undefeated season in the most shattering way.

“It’s not about me, it’s about the team,” Boscott said.

“As a team, we got the job done.”

Huonville had them on toast at quarter-time, and Cygnet slowly hunted down the Lions and then exploded late to claim a victory that will live long in the annals of SFL history.

“I’m going to remember this one for a long time,” Boscott said.

“It’s credit to the boys, they stuck to the game plan and to what we knew.

“We didn’t panic, and it was tough, but we stood up and got the job done.”

Boscott loves the big stage and his heroics in a tense final term turned the game.

“I really, thoroughly enjoy finals footy and I love grand finals,” Boscott said.

“Playing junior football down at Lauderdale, I learned to stay calm, relaxed and not get caught up in the moment.”

It was the perfect way for Boscott, 28, to hand the coaching reins to Lachie Watt.

“I haven’t really made any plans for next season,” Boscott said.

“I’m not really sure in terms of football, whether I want to play or not.

“I’ll take it easy and decide what I want to do next year.

“Right now I just want to focus on embracing this win.”

Cygnet will always hold a special place in Boscott’s heart.

“I’ve been here for four years and Cygnet means the world to me,” he said.

“The community is amazing.

“Seeing what they do for people in need is an absolute credit to the people, especially those involved in the ‘Wiggo’ House [for injured clubmate Ryan Wiggins.

“I’m so proud of the boys and the club. I can’t speak highly enough of them.”
