A SPORTS team in Launceston is being watched like a hawk this week after it allegedly breached coronavirus safety regulations in its resumption of training.
The Launceston City Council confirmed to the Mercury that a sports club had been warned and reminded of its safe return to training responsibilities from the COVID-19 shut down.

It is alleged the club had not properly observed social distancing rules and the number of players allowed in training groups.
The LCC, headed by Mayor Albert van Zetton, would not confirm what club or the sport.
The council owns various facilities in its jurisdiction, including AFL football host UTas Stadium, home of Hawthorn and TSL club North Launceston, rugby and cricket grounds, as well as basketball and netball venues.
A LCC spokesman said further breaches could involve the Department of Health and Human Services.
In a statement from LCC, CEO Michael Stretton revealed the breach.
“We are aware of a sports club that resumed training without the required COVID-19 plans in place,” Stretton said.
“All users of council facilities are required to implement COVID-19 Safety and Return to Play Plans before resuming activities on our sports grounds and facilities.”
