CLARENCE’S AFLW star Nicole Bresnehan and the TSLW’s leading goalkicker Sarah Skinner remain the last two footballers to earn selection in the competition’s team of the year every season.

The Roos backline general and Glenorchy’s goalkicking midfielder received the honour for the fourth straight season in the COVID-19 impacted 2020 campaign.

Grand finalists and minor premiers Launceston made up nearly a third of the team with six players, while Clarence — which had its premiership defence derailed by Glenorchy in the semi-finals — had five players selected.

Reigning league best and fairest Daria Bannister was named in the middle of the ground, adding to her 2017 and 19 team of the year selection, while North Launceston’s Maggie Cuthbertson also made the team for the third time after being named on the bench.

Skinner was named as a ruck rover despite topping the goal kicking table with 17 majors, four ahead of Banister with Clarence forward Jacinta Limbrick and half forward flanker Elise Barwick also both earning selection for a third consecutive season.

Eight of the 20 members made their first appearances, including Tiger Priscilla Odwogo, who was a standout for her side in a tough season which saw the club fail to win a match.

Bomber Jodie Clifford was named as captain for the second straight year.
