A four-try haul to speedster Simione Va’inga has helped the Gold Coast Tonga Under-12s to a cracking opening win at the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival.
Va’inga made the most of every opportunity that came his way, while young skipper Jaxson Collins scored a hat trick of his own as the Tongan side pulled off a 51-point shutout of Queensland Fiji.

The Tongans made it two-from-two on a big day on Field 1 when their Under-14 boys ran roughshod over the Queensland Barbarians later in the day.
Gun backrower Finau Tafa finished with a hat trick while the Togans ran in eight unasnwered tries in the 48-0 win.

Queensland Fiji managed to overturn a 10-point deficit to run out 24-17 winners over the Au Superstars while the Queensland Kiwis survived a thrilling fight back from the Queensland Royals to run out 19-10 winners in the Under-14s.
Tournament newcomers Queensland Indigenous and Pasifika maintained their impressive start to the weekend in the Under-16 girls, keeping rivals Queensland Fiji scoreless.
The side shared the spoils evenly among the squad with at least seven individual try scorers in the one-sided 48-0 win.

The Pacific Youth Rugby Festival makes its historic return to the Albany Creek rugby fields and this year it is bigger and better than ever.
With more teams and more players than ever before, the exclusive live stream coverage of the tournament will expand to five fields from Friday.

The Pacific Youth Rugby Festival will play host to tournament newcomers Queensland Indigenous and Pasifika, Nations United North Queensland and Territorian raiders All Nations Rugby NT.
Meanwhile tournament regulars Queensland Kiwi, AU Superstars and Gold Coast Tonga have expanded their efforts across most ages and divisions.
