They were Netball SA Premier League grand final rivals less than a month ago, but Contax champion Jordi Vidmar and Garville goal machine Lenize Guidera combined to become an unstoppable force in Launceston.

The shooting circle chemisty is clear between the two, as Vidmar played a brilliant support while Guidera (35 goals) racked up the goals across the opening three quarters.

When Guidera left the court midway through the final term, Vidmar (30 goals) took over the GS bib and added a haul of her own while Contax teammate Sophie Agostino joned her in the circle.

As had been a focal point for their side all weekend at the All Stars Cup, Netball SA started fast, pushing out to a 10-goal lead at halftime.

The injection of Tyrah Bacon into the shooting circle in the third term proved a masterstroke for the Tasmanian side, with Hayley McDougall freed up to score 16 of her 48 goals for the match.

The home side outscored their rivals by three goals in the third term, but it would be the only time in the match they had the upper hand with Netball SA turning the momentum back their way in a big final quarter.

DAY ONE

South Australia produced back-to-back monster wins on the opening day of the All Stars Cup against Tasmania, with the host state looking to rebound in game three on Sunday morning.

The Croweaters were far too strong at the Silverdome in Launceston, running out 74-46 winners in a thumping first victory before following it up with a

In the opening game, it was a 22-10 first-quarter that set it all up for the visitors with Tasmania behind the eight-ball from the get go.

South Australian captain Sophie Agostino led from the front for her side, finishing with 30 goals, while shooting partner Lenzie Guidera finished with 28 of her own.

Hayley McDougall top scored for Tasmania with 32 while Shelby Miller and Lydia Coote performed well in the middle.

While the result again didn’t go their way in game two, Tasmania performed much better throughout the contest.

After another slow start, they put together a strong 10 minutes in the second-quarter and challenged South Australia to withhold their own standard.

They did that by breaking away again after halftime but the signs are there that the host state can cause a boilover on Sunday.

Hayley McDougall was again Tassie’s top scorer with 33 goals while Jordi Vidmar was the star for South Australia with 30 of her own alongside Sophie Agostino with 22.

Sunday’s final game will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 10am.
