Bond will now play the Kedron Wavell Cougars in the premiership decider on Sunday at Nissan Arena.

The Gold Coast Titans will play the Cougars in the grand final of the Ruby series.

Bond trailed at every break but remained in touching distance, going into the final quarter just four points behind as the Bull Sharks made their game defining charge.

PREVIEW

Two teams in a do-or-die matchup are ready to punch their ticket to the 2025 HART Premier Netball League Sapphire grand final.

Both Bond University Bull Sharks and Sunshine Coast Thunder have all to gain and nothing to lose when they lock horns in a preliminary final on Sunday for the chance to face Kedron-Wavell Cougars in the title decider.

The Cougars claimed a 19-goal victory over the Bull Sharks in their major semi-final last weekend, meaning Bond now meet Sunshine Coast after their one-goal win against Gold Coast.

Ipswich will play Gold Coast in the Ruby division preliminary final at 4pm with both matches exclusively live streamed on Kommunity TV.

After starting the season with just one win in their first six outings, the Sunshine Coast Thunder turned their form around with six wins, one draw and one loss to Kedron-Wavell through their final eight matches.

The Thunder have claimed a draw and a win against Bond in their two matches earlier this season and the Bull Sharks are coming off their biggest loss of the season.

However they will be without head coach Simone Nalatu on Sunday as she is in Fiji with the under-21’s preparing for the World Youth Netball Cup.

“We are expecting another close encounter this Sunday, Bond have such strong scoring power in their team which adds to their formidable midfield and defensive end,” Nalatu said.

“We are going to have to be at our best for the entire game to have any chance at winning.”

Nalatu credited her side’s resilience for their strong finish to the regular season and finals charge.

“The core of our group played Super Netball Reserves and were Lightning training partners so we didn’t train together as a full Thunder team until round four,” she said.

“Whilst our players were training in various environments before that, I believe our results in the second part of the season are due to the time the group has had together on court and the connections and understanding we have developed over time.”

Watch both the Sapphire and Ruby preliminary finals live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 4pm on Sunday.
