VAFA Premier Men’s live stream: Old Melburnians look to fire up for visit of University Blacks

After four defeats in a row, Old Melburnians are back in the VAFA winners’ list - but their wayward kicking at goal made this win harder than it needed to be. Relive all the action.

Old Melburnians are off the bottom of the VAFA Premier Men’s ladder after snapping a four-game losing streak in beating University Blacks by 12 points.

The 75-63 victory pushes OM above Fitzroy and gives them plenty of momentum ahead of big games against University Blues and Old Scotch.

The game was evenly matched up for the first two quarters, with OM holding a nine-pont advantage at halftime.

A four goals to one third quarter proved the difference as OM opened up a 29-point lead.

Uni Blacks finished hard on the back of their own four goals to one final term run, but the damage had been done earlier.

The long wait for a first win of the season goes on for University Blacks after Old Melburnians piled on 14 goals in a 74-point VAFA Premier Men’s Resderves success on Saturday.

The result was effectively sealed by quarter time after OM kicked five goals to lead by 31 points.

Uni Blacks have now lost all six games so far this season. Next week they face league leaders Old Xaverians.

PREVIEW

University Blacks facing Old Melburnians at Elsternwick Park is shaping as such a critical clash early in the VAFA Premier Division men’s season.

The home side enter the game at the foot of the ladder after four straight losses. Their season has certainly hit the skids since beating Collegians by 21 points in the season opener, culminating in last weekend’s 17-point defeat to Fitzroy.

Despite sitting in sixth with just two wins, the Blacks have enjoyed a good season to date. Their three defeats have come by nine points (to both Old Scotch and Old Brighton) and 10 points to Collegians last weekend.
