The biggest day of the AFL Masters National Carnival delivered in spades.

The title picture is beginning to look a lot clearer in some divisions, while in others the cat has been thrown among the pigeons following some brilliant upsets.

Western Australia’s all-conquering Over-50s have taken a giant leap toward a three-peat in the division after holding on for a nailbiting two-goal win over Victoria Metro.

The Black Swans managed to shake of a sluggish start to the top-of-the-table clash, being held scoreless in the first quarter, before big Dwayne Stanton booted a decisive goal to send WA home to a 5.6 (36) to 3.5 (23) win.

It wasn’t just in the Over-50s that WA got the wood over their eastern rivals, with the Sandgropers belting their way to a 8.5 (53) to 2.3 (15) win in the Over-45s division.

Victorian veteran Peter Treseder pulled out all the stops in a three-goal effort to help the Vic Metro A side to a dominant 13-goal win over Queensland’s Over-60s men.

Treseder was well supported by doubles to Wayne Allen and Domenico Sita in the 13.7 (85) to 1.1 (7) win.

Not to be upstaged by the young fellers, the Vic Metro A Over-65s flooded the scoreboard in a blazing 128-point shutout of a combined NSW/SA side.

Andrew Mathewson and Ian McCormack combined for nine goals in the one-sided contest.

It was all one-sided in the Women’s Over-40s on Wednesday, with the hometown hero Debbie Ward producing a hattrick to lead the WA side to a dominant 68-point win over Tasmania.

The NSW Over-40 women’s side picked up their second win of the tournament with a 45-point shutout of Vic Metro thanks to a double to Franziska Klatt.

Queensland’s Over-35s women continued their unbeaten start to the national carnival holding out South Australia in a low-scoring affair, while WA North made short work of state rivals WA Black in a 12.10 (82) to 0 shutout.

Western Australia’s brilliant Over-50s mens side have a chance to put one hand on the Division 1 trophy if they win one of the standout games at the AFL Masters on Wednesday with Victoria Metro.

The black and yellow army will roll into the match on the back of a dominant opening day display when they put 19 goals past a willing Queensland outfit.

Chris Bassett was the chief destroyer for the side with five of his own, and they will look to the forward to strike again when they come up against a Vic Metro side who easily dispatched of Tasmania on Sunday.

The clash headlines a big third day of action on Fremantle Oval on Wednesday, which also includes matches from the Mens Over-55s Division 1 and Men’s Over-45s Division 1.

KommunityTV will exclusively stream every match across five fields of action on Wednesday, with the first matches kicking off from 10.30am (AEST).

WA and Vic Metro will meet in a top of the table clash in the Over-45s, while Queensland and Vic Country/ACT will look to get their tournaments back on track with their first wins of the week.

In the Over 55s it will be another meeting of Round 1 winners between Vic Metro and WA, while Queensland will take on Tasmania.

Western Australia Black will take over the proceedings on East Fremantle Oval, with the WA second sides featuring in seven of eight games at the venue.

The action at East Fremantle will open with a big clash between Western Australia Black and Western Australia North in the Women’s Over-35s division.

Both sides are chasing their first wins of the tournament, and can get themselves back into medal contention with a big performance.

The action at East Fremantle will conclude with a big showdown between the Preisdents Men and Tasmania in the Men’s Over-35s.

Lindisfarne Two Blues master Julian Sturzaker kicked the Tasmanians to a big win on the opening day and they will be determined to make it two-from-two to start the tournament when they clash with a President’s side smarting from a loss on Monday.

The Tom Perrot Reserve action will be headlined by a big match between a combined Vic Country/Vic Metro/NSW side against WA Gold in the Over-35s. There will also be games in the Over-40s and Over-60s age groups.

Fremantle Park will feature a massive seven games of AFL Masters action, with an All Abilities exhibition match the main event from 4.30pm (AWST). The Fremantle Park action will also feature back-to-back games from the hotly-contested Women’s 35s division.

Finally the finest vintage veterans will take over the field at Dick Lawrence Oval, with matches from the Over-60s and Over-65s divisions. The impressive Vic Metro teams will feature in the first four matches of the day before a combined Queensland/Tasmania side clashes with WA in the final game of the day.
