A six-goal final quarter has supercharged Cygnet as they shunted aside Lindisfarne to claim the outright lead of the SFL as the only remaining undefeated team.

There was plenty at stake in the top-of-the-ladder clash at Anzac Park, with the Two Blues holding a slender lead over the reigning premiers for the first three quarters.

But by the last break Port had reduced the margin to a solitary point and, with momentum building, one sensed it was only a matter of time before the visitors took control of the contest.

Lindisfarne did, however, hold back the pending onslaught momentarily when they kicked the first goal of the final quarter after a free kick was awarded 20m out directly in front.

But thereafter the visitors dominated as they kicked the remaining six goals of the match to storm to a 30-point victory.

Lindisfarne simply had no answers as Cygnet buried the ball deep in their forward line and scored at will as they ran out 11.9 (75) to 6.9 (45) winners.

Cygnet is in top spot thanks to their huge percentage, but Lindisfarne is gunning to knock them off their perch, says Two Blues hardman Aiden Webster.

“It’s massive – it’s what we play footy for, games like this,” Webster said.

“It has always been a good battle between us and we expect nothing less this time.”

It could be another step in the resurrection of Lindisfarne.

“I’m confident we can go all the way this year,” Webster said.

“At the start of the year, probably some people underestimated us, but we’ve picked up some great assets and we’re firing.”

Cygnet player Will Cleeland said it would be The Port’s best test of the year.

“They are well-drilled, well-structured, they’ve got some talent and topped it off with some good recruits, so it’s going to be a massive game,” Cleeland said.

“We like playing fast footy. Our hardest part is knowing when to slow down sometimes cause we’ve got a lot of young blokes who like to break the lines.

“We’re expecting a fast and furious game and we’re very excited for it.”

Lindisfarne finished third last season and Webster said there was a determination to win the flag this year.

Lindisfarne’s Tonika Hudson and Port’s Emily Handley are ready for Saturday’s big test.

“Last year we had a slow start - we didn’t have a coach until February and we were 0-3 early on and chasing butt from the get-go,” Webster said.

“Now we are really well-structured and there’s a great vibe around the club, everyone’s up and about and determined to go all the way.

“It’s a strong competition so if we go into games with a bad attitude there’s no reason someone can’t knock us off, so it’s about staying level headed and being focused every week.”

In other games, Sorell is at home to Huonville Lions, New Norfolk plays Claremont at Boyer Oval, and Hobart hosts Dodges Ferry at the TCA ground.
