2025 AFLQ Schools Cup live stream: Watch two days of state semi-finals action

Palm Beach Currumbin dominated all the action at the AFLQ Schools Cup semi-finals, with five of six sides winning their way through to the grand finals. Watch the REPLAYS here.

Palm Beach Currumbin’s goal of having representation across all grades at next week’s AFLQ Schools Cup State Finals fell one win short after five of six PMC outfits secured victories at the semi-finals.

The Gold Coast powerhouse, taking inspiration from their AFL namesakes’ elimination final heroics last Saturday, dominated the action on the opening day of the AFLQ Schools Cup semi-finals to walk away big victors across the senior female, senior male, junior female and junior male divisions.

The youth female side then continued that streak on Wednesday before the youth male side fell agonisingly short in a three-point loss to St Laurence’s College.

On Tuesday, the biggest win of the day belonged to the senior male’s, who knocked off St John’s College Nambour by a massive 90 points – 19.7 (121) to 4.7 (31).

The senior female’s won through with a 7.11 (53) to 2.3 (15) win over St Teresa’s Catholic College.

In the junior spaces, it was a pair of defensive masterclasses that secured Palm Beach the two victories, with both the male and female outfits only giving up one goal each in their big wins.

The youth female side secured the biggest win of all – a 16.10 (106) to 0.0 (0) win over Lourdes Hill College before the youth male side was overrun in the loss to St Laurence’s College.

Leading by seven points at three-quarter time, Palm Beach could only kick three final quarter behinds amid St Laurence’s run two goals to secure an unlikely victory.

PREVIEW

A trio of all-Australian young guns are set to spearhead Palm Beach Currumbin’s AFLQ Schools Cup semi-finals push this week.

All-Australian’s Callum Samuelson, Lily Moana and Tigerlily Nixon will all run out for PBC this week.

The school also boasts a fourth all-Australian representative in highly touted draft prospect Dylan Patterson but he is not expected to take part in the semi-finals as he prepares for draft camp.

Every match from the AFLQ Schools Cup semi-finals will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Palm Beach Currumbin State High School head of sport Neil Mackay was impressed with the efforts of his teams so far this year.

The Gold Coast powerhouse heads into this week’s finals with teams still active in all grades.

“It’s a fantastic effort to put yourself in a position where you could have all six teams qualify for the finals in Maroochydore,” he said.

“That was one of the early pre-season goals and we’re still in the hunt.”

Mackay was delighted to see multiple students from his school earn All Australian honours as the sport continues to grow on the Glitter Strip.

“It’s a really good reward and it’s good for all the other people to see that kids from this region can be just as good as all those Victorians or South Australians,” he said.

“When you know that it can happen in your backyard, it helps build belief that if you keep working hard, it’s possible.”

Mackay has been impressed by the depth within the school as they have regularly had to play without talented members of their squad this year.

“We’ve had a lot of students involved in Suns Academy and rep teams,” he said.

“We’ve had to cover them during their absences through our games and still been able to get through them and win so that’s been fantastic.

“The kids’ effort week in week out is always fantastic, they do it as a subject three lessons a week so they’ve got to keep turning it up and they very rarely let us down in terms of their attitude or effort.

“That’s the reward they get is they put themselves in a position to maybe win a state championship.”
