Rivellino unleashed a barnstorming finish to win the $2 million Inglis Millennium (1100m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Rivellino came from the second half of the field, opening up down the outside to claim the feature juvenile sprint for Inglis sale graduates.

A $180,0000 Inglis Classic Yearling purchase from last year, Rivellino defeated Within The Law with Artistic Venture rounding out the placings in third.

The victory was Rivellino’s second from as many starts and took his earnings to more than $1.2 million.

Rivellino is a two-year-old colt by Too Darn Hot (GB), he was ridden by James McDonald and is trained by Kris Lees.

This is what the riders thought of their mount’s performance in the Inglis Millennium.

1st – RIVELLINO (James McDonald) He’s a ripper and fair play to Kris, he has always liked him. When he rang and said ‘you’ve got to ride this one, I reckon he’s pretty good’, it didn’t take much convincing. I rode him in a trial and he gave me an excellent feel and that was just what we wanted to see today. As soon as we had a spot with a bit of cover we were happy. I thought he would coming here and run really well but I just needed a little bit of luck and I got that from the 800 (metre mark). It was a smoothly run race after that. He’s a really improving type. He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with through the carnival.

2nd – WITHIN THE LAW (Jason Collett) Great run. Had the winner’s back and challenged it late, but he just had a big enough lead on me.

3rd – ARTISTIC VENTURE (Tom Sherry) Beautiful filly. Had to duck back to the inside but she finished off strong. Promising.

4th – GRAFTERBURNERS (Adam Hyeronimus) He’s a very raw horse, he’s still learning. But, that last 300m, his turn-of-foot was very good. He’s going to be a horse to follow.

5th – SANCTIFIED (Jay Ford) He ran really well. From that gate we rode him quiet today and he closed his race off really well.

6th – OPEN SECRET (Zac Lloyd) She’s gone enormous. The barrier was not ideal, but she’s still learning with every run and she’s going to get better.

7th – PRICE TAG (Tyler Schiller) Just raced too keenly. I thought she was gallant at the finish, but just did too much early.

8th – CROWN THE KING (Tim Clark) He ran honestly.

9th – THE MAGIC MAN (Kerrin McEvoy) Ran well. A bit further.

10th – DEEP AFFECTION (Reece Jones) Just too sharp for her. She was under pressure most of the way and she’s doing her best work late. Gave me another brilliant ride.

11th – COBRA CLUB (Regan Bayliss) Just raced a little bit free and fresh for me. Still had a really good gallop, just tired that last little bit, so he’ll improve out of sight off that.

12th – YOLO (Ashley Morgan) Got into a lovely spot. Had no luck from the top of the straight.

13th – SHEEZA DIVA (Winona Costin) Good run, just ended up in the wrong part of the track.

14th – PRINCE MARIONETTE (Rhys McLeod) Just outclassed. He has run as well as he could.

15th – BUBION (Zac Wadick (a)) She handled the occasion well. She might mature into a nicer three-year-old filly, but she handled the occasion and there are benefits to it.

16th – KUJENGA (Chad Schofield) Travelled really well up on the pace, he just didn’t have much to offer.
