It’s a sports staple in the state’s north, but Hobart-based V8 Supercars fans will get their chance to rub shoulders with drivers before next month’s Tasmania SuperSprint at Symmons Plains.

For the first time a street party will be held at Princes Wharf featuring several prominent drivers and their cars from 6pm on Wednesday, August 14.

All 24 drivers will be at ‘SuperFest’ at Launceston the following day, before racing gets underway on Friday, August 16.

The free public event in Hobart, supported by the state government, will feature former champions Mark Winterbottom and James Courtney, two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz

Mostert, and Supercars rookies Ryan Wood and Aaron Love are set to attend.

Their cars will be on display and drivers available for autographs and a Q and A session.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Supercars to Hobart for the very first time,” Supercars Chief Operating Officer Tim Watsford said:

“This activation, made possible through the support of the Tasmania Government, is a fantastic opportunity for fans to get a taste of the action up close.

“We can’t wait to see the excitement on the faces of fans, and we hope this event will encourage everyone to join us at Symmons Plains.”

Tickets to Tasmania’s largest annual sporting event can be purchased via Supercars.com.
