Brisbane Roar whiz-kid Izaack Powell’s encouraging form has earned him an upgraded deal next season.
Powell, 17, became the youngest player to represent the Roar in the A-League last month when he came on as a first-half substitute in Brisbane’s shock 2-1 win over Sydney FC at Suncorp Stadium.
Currently on a youth team contract, the Year 12 Grace Lutheran College student has been signed to a scholarship deal for the Roar’s 2019-20 campaign.
“The hard work’s starting to pay off … but it’s really just the beginning,” the young left-back said.
“I can’t wait to get in, start training hard and keep it going.”
Powell also came on in the first-half of the Roar’s 5-3 last-start win over Central Coast Mariners in Gosford on February 22.
And he’s in line for more game time when the Roar return to action on Friday night against Western Sydney Wanderers at Suncorp Stadium.
“The break’s been good,” Powell said.
“Now to look back, review the game (against the Mariners), identify what we can work on and really put into action against Western Sydney on Friday.”
