It will be double the fun for Tasmanian motorsport fans when the V8s hit Tasmania for round three of the supercars championship in May with the more than 440km of racing across three events.
With tickets to go on sale from Tuesday, Supercars Australia has revealed the supercars would race about 200km more than they did when they competed in round eight of the Australian championship in August under the new format released for 2025.
With next year’s Symmons Plains event switched to May, the new Super440 format will include two 120km races on the Saturday and one 200km race on the Sunday.
Supercars CEO Shane Howard said the new format would deliver excitement and ensure cars that fail to finish in one race can regroup to compete in the next.
“We are thrilled to open ticket sales for what promises to be a groundbreaking 2025 Repco Supercars Championship,” Howard said.
“Each event on the calendar brings its own unique atmosphere and history, and we can’t wait to see fans fill the stands and line the circuits for another unforgettable year of racing.
“With the introduction of new race formats and the inaugural Supercars Finals series, 2025 will be a season like no other, adding even more excitement across the season as we race across the continent to crown the Supercars champion.”
The 2025 season will feature 13 events and 34 races, with 6600km of racing to be held in seven Australian states and territories, as well as Taupō, New Zealand.
The Gold Coast 500 will serve as the first round of the revolutionary Supercars Finals series, where the top 10 drivers in the championship will compete in three knockout rounds to determine the champion.
The Sandown 500 will shift to November 14-16, serving as the penultimate round of the 2025 season. As part of the new finals series format, the Sandown event will be pivotal in narrowing the championship contenders from seven to four, setting the stage for the Adelaide Grand Final on November 27-30.
