Glenorchy is set to be bolstered by the return of a former TSL player of the year next season, with key tall Daniel Joseph returning to KGV.
The 2016 premiership star’s return was announced online earlier in the week with Joseph last playing at the Magpies back in 2021.
A two-time club best and fairest winner, Joseph has spent the last two seasons playing with Aspley in the QAFL where he has won back-to-back flags with the Hornets.
“It is great to have a player of Daniel’s skill and stature recommit to the club, and we look forward to having him and his family around the club in 2024,” a club statement said.
A star defender who can play both rebounding and lockdown roles, Joseph’s return to what has been a rather young and inexperienced back 50 will be a major addition for a side that leaked an average of 105 points per game this season.
It’s been somewhat of a busy off season for the Magpies who have also announced the signings of Koby Phillips, Adam Roberts, Riley Oakley, Tom McGann and Brodie Howard for 2024.
Joseph isn’t the only key defender returning for the final year of the TSL with Lauderdale announcing Will Poland is set to return to SkyBus Oval.
Poland played with the Bombers for three seasons between 2020-22, after crossing from Kingborough, before signing with SFL club Sorell this season.
He joins former players Andrew Phillips, Thor Boscott, Mitch Robinson, Oscar Shaw, Ben McGuinness, Cam Hooker and Riley Hooker, along with new recruit Jordan Lane, as new faces into the line-up for next season.
In other TSL news, popular North Hobart forward Jack McCulloch has been named the Demons captain for 2024.
The club has also announced that former best and fairest winner Callum Kilpatrick is returning after a year playing in Victoria for West Preston-Lakeside.
